Whilst in New York City the other day, with Dad (Edwin), my Uncle Jon, of Castle Tailors happened to pick up a specal edition of American GQ called "The Style Guy".
Whilst flicking through, he came across an article written by a customer of ours called Glenn O'Brien who is a fashion writer for GQ and is known as "The Style Guy".
Upon reading through the article, Jon realised that the main photo, of a luxurious cream dinner jacket was actually made by us here at Steed! It was a pleasent surpise that Mr O'Brien had chosen to mention us in his article and to include a photo of it as the main picture in a full page spread.
The dinner jacket was made back in June, 1999 so is over 13 years old already and was actually straight finished, as we had made a few garments previously so Dad had got the pattern nailed on by this point.
The jacket is made up from Holland & Sherry 977038 White Barathea, however Mr O'Brien's description of "Clotted Cream" is a more detailed description of how the cloth actually looks when it is made up.
The style of the dinner jacket is as follow:
Double Breasted
2 Show 3 Button
No Vents
Jetted Pockets
Shawl Collar
This jacket in this cloth very much Humphrey Bogart feel from when he appeared in the film Casablanca, back in 1942. However he actually wore a single breasted jacket with a shawl collar.
Not a bad guy to take fashion tips from seeing as Humprey is known world wide of one of the coolest guys ever.
@BigDogOfficial matthew@steed.co.uk is the best one to use. Looking forward to having a look through the bunches tomorrow for you.
